Japonica Cottage is a classic 'chocolate box' three bedroom thatched cottage dating back to the 16th Century sitting in its own very private third of an acre garden.
The property is in the hamlet of Bank near Lyndhurst and is situated in a country lane close to a wonderful traditional pub and the open forest. Lyndhurst is a short drive or a 25 minute walk away with its mix of gift shops, cafes and restaurants.

Japonica Cottage is a beautiful thatched, three-bedroom self-catering cottage located in the forest hamlet of Bank nr Lyndhurst. From the cottage you can walk to the pub for a sumptuous meal and then go in either direction and find forest trails for bike riding or walking to remove the calories.

We had a great visit yet again. This feels like a home away from home! Beautiful weather with a lovely garden to lie in. We brought our new puppy Bertie and he loves running up and down the garden. We all had great nights' sleep and enjoyed many forest walks and bike rides! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We have just stayed at Japonica Cottage for 4 nights. It is a comfortable, well appointed, partially thatched cottage. It was clean with a welcome pack on arrival. Located on a narrow lane, there is off-road parking, a large garden with summer house, and is less than 5 minutes walk from the excellent Oak Inn and New Forest walks. Well recommended.

This is our fourth visit to the cottage in 12 years and the cottage and gardens provide a wonderful holiday experience in the New Forest. The tradtional chocolate box cottage is excellently complimented by a 3 room extension which hosts a living/bedroom, twin room and modern bathroom. We utilised all 4 rooms during our stay as there were 8 adults staying and it accommodated us all with no problems. The kitchen and down stairs utility room provides more than enough kitchen space and there is plenty of fridge/freezer space to meet the needs of a large family. The service from New Forest Holiday lets was attentive and very helpful. A wonderful stay again and I am sure we will be back again. Thank you.

Fairytale Cottage
Located on a quiet lane, detached with fabulous garden you feel a million miles from everyone but actually only a short drive to all the New Forest areas of interest. The furnishings and kitchenware are of a very high standard, the house whilst having all the benefits of a modern home retains so many original features a real fairytale cottage, I and my family are eager to return.

A Perfect Cottage in the heart of the New Forest
Japonica Cottage is a beautiful 1650's thatched cottage with a wonderful sense of history. The old part is very well preserved but it also has the advantage of the addition of a separate large lounge, lovely bathroom and third bedroom.
Set in a small hamlet, forest ponies stroll in the lane, while forest walks can be taken direct from the door. In summer it is a joy to eat in the garden but it's great to visit in Autumn and Winter as well – a firm favourite. There is also a pub within a short walking distance.
Romantic thatched cottage, good kitchen, big garden and nearby walking routes. Everything is well kept and very clean.
